The Douglas Bader School owes its name to its location on the former site of RAF Coltishall which was itself briefly a base for the famous disabled pilot. These days the planes have departed and the Badersfield area is a new community of homes created from the old RAF housing. The Douglas Bader School was originally an infants school catering for the airforce families, but now boasts modern facilities for students in Key Stages 1 – 4 from the North Norfolk Area.
In line with the other constituent schools of the SSSfN, Douglas Bader School has specialist facilities for Food Technology, Art & Textiles and Woodwork along with its own onsite assessment unit. Young people from a wide area of North Norfolk access the school from as far afield as Cromer, Fakenham and Dereham.
