The first point of contact for Schools with the Short Stay School is often when they have to take the sad decision to permanently exclude a child. At this point it is really important that the correct procedures are followed to ensure that the young person’s education suffers the minumum disruption.
At the point of permanent exclusion (the same day the letter is sent to the parent) a SSSfN Referral Form must be completed and sent to your local SSSFN base. The contact details for the staff who deal with permanent exclusions are :
East Norfolk : Tina Hamilton (firstname.lastname@example.org)
North Norfolk : Nicky Perratta (email@example.com)
Central and South Norfolk : Eileen Pinfold (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Western Norfolk : Lucy Hartland (email@example.com)
As soon as possible after the referral form has been sent a copy of the childs school file must be made and also sent on to us so that we have all the information we need to safely provide education for the young person.
The Short Stay School Admissions officers also deal with schools when we wish to reintegrate a young person from the Short Stay School back into a mainstream school.
It is a statutory duty for all Norfolk schools and Academies to accept reintegrations from the Short Stay School. This applies to all schools even if the year group is full or if you have other challenging young people.
The Short Stay School will provide a package of support and dual registration to assist in the reintegration of the young person but this will be for time limited period.
