At the SSSFN we come across a lot of parents and young people who are either confused about what E-Safety means or who have had very negative experiences online.
To support them we have researched a number of useful sites for them to access useful information.
All SSSFN parents are given a copy of this leaflet ‘Know IT all – Keeping up with children on the Internet‘ and Supporting Young People online- Information and advice for parents and carers which give some very comprehensive basic advice on e-safety for parents.
In addition to this parents might find this leaflet ‘Young People and Social Networking Sites‘ useful which talks specifically about the dangers of sites such as Facebook and other social media.
Parents can also gain a lot of useful information from the Uk Safer Internet Centre www.saferinternet.org.uk
In particular they have a very good Parents Guide to Technology which can be found at www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-and-resources/a-parents-guide
Parents and Puplis can gain information and a reporting facility for on line concerns and crimes via CEOP’s, the UK’s National Crime Agency, by clicking the CEOP’s button on our website pages.
For further information regarding school practice around eSafety and educating our pupils, please refer to the E-Safety Policy.
