Course Title: Level 1/2 Award in Creative and Media

Course Level: Level 1 / 2

Course overview:

Unit 1 – Students will learn about professional practice in the creative and media industries. This will include different types of practice and the specialist vocabulary that is used. Students will also develop research skills to help you to be creative and develop innovative ideas to meet client and/or audience needs.

Unit 2 – Students will learn to work independently to create an outcome in response to a brief, and how to experiment with your skills and how to refine your work in response to feedback.

Unit 3s – Students will learn how to work independently to develop skills in applied arts & crafts. You will learn how to plan developments and use different approaches to progress the skills that you want to develop.

Assessment:

Unit 1 – Creating a Proposal in Response to a Brief – This unit is externally assessed

Unit 2 – Creating an Outcome in Response to a Brief – This unit is internally assessed and externally moderated

Unit 3s – Applied Arts & Crafts – This unit is internally assessed and externally moderated

 

Grading: Pass / Merit / Distinction

 

Progression opportunities:

This course allows the students to access a range of opportunities at Level 2/ 3 including GCSE, A levels, apprenticeships and vocationally related qualifications. These include qualifications related to Art and Design, Media Studies and Performing Arts.
